Mint Julep

I have had an obsession with the front porch for as long as I can remember.  Sitting out on a warm summer night, drinking mint juleps and listening to stories on the radio.

Ok, I have to admit, I am not from the South, I have never had a front porch nor have I ever tasted a mint julep...to be honest I don't even know if they have stories on the radio anymore.  But based on my extensive research of movies and books that is exactly what life is like down in the Good ol' Southern USA.

Just like the bar patios of today. The front porch used to be the place to be and the place to be seen with if first started to appear in the 19th century.  When families started adding front porches to their homes it would often be covered and have the extra furniture from inside the home.  Which is much like today's trailer park*

*I would like to note that not all trailer parks are white trash **. I have
                                                seen several nice ones myself.

**I use to the term "white trash" loosely. You
can be any colour of trash you would like.

The glorious front porch disappeared for sometime, but in the past few decades it has been making a grand revival.

I, myself, would like to have a country home (only for weekends away as I am a true city girl at heart) Where I can have a garden and barn where I will wash and cut my fresh veggies. Oh Yes, my beautiful porch will wrap around the whole house, be two levels and I will host the most amazing parties and BBQs.

All While sipping my mint julep.
