Weekly round up

Received a cute note at work, all this attention is going my head.

Staying at my friends house taking care of their cat and new puppy. I do lie dogs, but I dot like leaning up their pee and poop...litter box all the way!

Finally got my visa sorted for Dubai. Had a little wait at the fly dubai office, but it wasn't painful and I was amused by the space and the people watching.

Had a little road trip into the desert. Will post fully a out that later. Forgot sunscreen

I thought that this was suppose to be fun?

I am currently living in Qatar.  When I made the decision I have no idea what I was thinking. I often wonder what I was thinking.  I thought it would be an adventure.  That I would see different parts of the world that would be really expensive and hard to see without being here.  Instead I sit in an office all day at a desk.  Dealing with office related things that I could have dealt with back home, where booze is readily available. Here it is not.

I have only made one friend, and I like to pride myself on my friend making ability. It is surprisingly hard to do it here. And there is no girls to hang out with.  I never really had any girlfriend for most of my life.  But in recent years I have gained many and I miss them so much.  I miss being able to tell them about a cute boy I met, or this wicked zit that hurts so much.  I never really gave much thought to hearing random stories from them, but now I miss them.  "How hard was it to find a navy blue pencil skirt again?"  " He tried to put it where without lube?"

I have gone on a few adventures, but I haven't even been able to leave the country yet. I can't wait to go to Dubai in a few weeks.  I am just going to relax and enjoy being outta Doha.

Mint Julep

I have had an obsession with the front porch for as long as I can remember.  Sitting out on a warm summer night, drinking mint juleps and listening to stories on the radio.

Ok, I have to admit, I am not from the South, I have never had a front porch nor have I ever tasted a mint julep...to be honest I don't even know if they have stories on the radio anymore.  But based on my extensive research of movies and books that is exactly what life is like down in the Good ol' Southern USA.

Just like the bar patios of today. The front porch used to be the place to be and the place to be seen with if first started to appear in the 19th century.  When families started adding front porches to their homes it would often be covered and have the extra furniture from inside the home.  Which is much like today's trailer park*

*I would like to note that not all trailer parks are white trash **. I have
                                                seen several nice ones myself.

**I use to the term "white trash" loosely. You
can be any colour of trash you would like.

The glorious front porch disappeared for sometime, but in the past few decades it has been making a grand revival.

I, myself, would like to have a country home (only for weekends away as I am a true city girl at heart) Where I can have a garden and barn where I will wash and cut my fresh veggies. Oh Yes, my beautiful porch will wrap around the whole house, be two levels and I will host the most amazing parties and BBQs.

All While sipping my mint julep.

It is a bit weird

Recently there has been a lot of western restaurants taking over the middle east and then creating strange foods to serve to the masses. Last week a red lobster opened up here in Doha. It was a huge deal, made it all over the news. As a vegetarian I don't eat any animals and I have never eaten fish (the idea just freaks me out). I do think it is strange that there is some amazing restaurant a here, but everyone prefers the americanized crap.

This is the most recent discovery I made...yum yum.

Cheers to chocolate pizza

Photo bomb

I recently was bored so I started going through the pictures I had on my computer.  Which got me to thinking.  Why do people waste so much time on taking a great picture.  I get it, if you are a pro or even a hobby photographer.  But what about the regular go schmo.  I just believe in capturing the moment.  It becomes a memory the moment that it passes.  Realistically the majority of pictures taken on are just put on Facebook anyway.  Or you create a slide show of your vacation and show it to family and friends (please note that although I love looking at pictures, I have no desire to be invited to that party)

Here are a few of my favorite that I happen to have handy and that put a smile on my face whenever I see them.
